Attractions & Activities

The Machame route is also preferred by several adventure seekers due to the variety of views & experiences this route offers. Some of the pit-stops & notable attractions are mentioned below:

Kilimanjaro Foothills: The Trek begins at the foothills of Kilimanjaro’s lush Rainforest. The routes are slippery but provide for an extremely blissful experience & view

Shira Plateau: At an elevation of 3962 kms, the Shira plateau  shows the remains of an ancient caldera, which collapsed on itself & expired almost half a million years ago. The plateau is plush with wildlife, you can even walk along the path that is treaded by a whole lot of wild animals.

Barranco Wall: On day 4, trekkers on the Machame, Umbwe, Shira & Lemosho will be greeted by the ominous looking wall. Scaling the wall is simpler than it looks, though.

Karanga Camp: Further Ascension from Barranco Wall will lead you to the Karanga Camp, from where, one can begin seeing the breath-taking Kilimanjaro views.

Barafu Camp: The Barafu Camp is at close to 19,000 ft & is a 6 km walk from Karanga Camp, but remember, walks at such an altitude is also quite challenging

Mount Kibo: On the 6th day of the trek, you will be climbing from Barafu Camp towards the summit (Uhuru peak). It is a steep & slow climb & within a few hours you will reach the tip of the rim where you will see the sign towards Stella point.

Uhuru Point: Scaling the Summit of Kilimanjaro is what a myriad of travelers yearn for worldwide. Standing at the highest point of Africa after a week of hard struggle is a truly overwhelming experience.

Good company

★★★★★
If you are planning to do your vacations in Tanzania, do not think it twice and choose The African Quest company. Good accomodation, good safari car, but mostly nice, experimented and very welcoming guides!
