Central Serengeti - 28 kms from Seronera Serengeti
The African Quest Ratings
One of the most striking reasons to choose the Serena Lodge is because of the spectacular views the African themed rooms offer.
Nestled in the Kyabatero hills at an elevated position in the north-western region, the rooms offer a panoramic view of the endless Serengeti plains. The rooms are well furnished with a marble clad en-suite bathroom, hotel staff are known to be particularly hospitable and accommodative and the lodge also has numerous facilities.
The rooms are also specially built African chalets that resemble a Masai hut and are spread out to ensure maximum privacy. The rooms are well equipped with en-suite, marble-clad bathrooms and an in-room bar.
Tourists popularly describe the lodge as a perfect start to a Tanzania Safari since it isn’t uncommon to have upclose views of the animals of Serengeti.
The downside is that the lodge tends to get slightly busy especially during peak season as the resort offers great panoramic views of the Great Migration as well.
The following facilities are readily available in the Logde
Infinity Pool: The lodge features an infinity pool that loops around the border of the hotel. Being located in the mini-hills of Serengeti, the hotel has one of the best poolside views that are also frequented by wild animals occassionally!
Dining: Full course English brunch at the traditionally carved out domed dining room where stumbling across monkey thieves is not uncommon!
Balconies: The lodge has a penchant for providing the guests with extremely serene views, all 66 rooms in the hotel have a panoramic views of the plains, the balconies that provide such immersive views are called Rondavels in African lingo
Barbecue area with daily traditional shows: Whether it is the sukuma traditional dance, the haya dances or performances of traditional Tazanian music artists, the barbeque area of the hotel is lively every single evening and a pleasantly situated water garden around the area sweetens the deal
In-room facilities: In-room bar, multi-channel flat screen TV, 24*7 room service, Masai themed motifs, 24*7 heated water, tea-coffee, in-room safe and if you’re lucky a morning wake-up call by a wild Giraffe grazing right outside your balcony
Other facilities: Gift shops, conference rooms, assistance for arranging for Balloon Safari, Game Drives, lobby Wi-fi, airport transfer facility from Seronera airstrip
Being located in the south western plains of the Serengeti, the lodge is very close to a number of attractions that the typical traveler seeks.
Eco-trail tours: Nearby areas offer enchanting walking tours through the middle of the endless plains. Chances of knocking at least 3 of the big 5 during any given walking safari is an almost guarantee. Being exposed to the Serengeti terrain on foot is a wild experience in itself.
Game Drives: This goes without saying, Serengeti Safari game drives are arguably the best in all of Africa. Areas close to the Serengeti are particularly great for Game drives.
Balloon Safari: Seeing Serengeti from a birds eye view while floating in a bucket in the sky is a once in a lifetime experience that can and should be done in the Serengeti
Bird Watching: The hotel has arrangements for the inner ornithologist in you 🙂
The hotel staff can readily make arrangements for these activities.
The lodge is competitively priced and is almost always cheaper & more convenient than similarly equipped hotels nearby. Prices fluctuate wildly depending upon the seasons.
Price for a single suite can range between $180 – $300 for a single room with an en-suite bathroom.
A double room can cost anything between $320 -$680, making it really good value.
Without being too fancy, the lodge has a rich heritage and takes care of most of the travellers needs at a reasonable price.
